I had a Nexus 5 here in Brazil, back in the day - probably the smoothest Android experience I ever had. Exciting times!

Nowadays they are expensive phones that you don't really see around here, with the same price as iPhones.

I had the LG Nexus 4. It was awesome. Nowadays the same situation is in Romania too.
They just are too expensive, Apple has the premium segment locked down and I don’t really understand why folks pay that much for android phones.

A lot of this has to do with Google abandoning its product half way though. All the good google products are now over a decade old

When I was poorer I Used android because the nexus 4 was really great price to product ratio. Same with the pixel 3a but the premium android phones don’t offer enough value or ecosystem lock-in to consider.

I do agree with you. I'm still an android user after 12 years of changing phones. I've been using phones from each segment and I must say, the ecosystem is not stable. Also, in the market is a lot of copy paste of extra features.
I like that my Pixel phone came with no crapware other than the Google environment itself -- which I'm already bought into. It's not premium, exactly, but I expect to pay more in order to not have additional, unremoveable vendor stuff bringing the price down.
