Oh, one of those sites that don’t serve EU readers because of GDPR.
Kinda makes you wonder just what they are doing with the data that makes them non compliant...
Usually the reason is as short as "we can't afford to pay (or don't want to pay) someone to figure out what we need to do to be compliant".
Yup, the URL should be changed. US only websites are alienating huge amounts of HN readership.

Losing weight was never on the table then?
He considered it, but at his size it would have been kinda unhealthy to shed that many pounds in a short period of time:

Just over a lb a week is totally healthy. 2lbs a week and he’s fine.

But understand if that’s his choice!

To drop 80lbs in 6 months would need 3lbs drop per week, but with a BMI of 46 this guy really needs to be losing weight regardless of any potential trips to space!
