Ask HN: Is it possible to hire a professional webdev to check my amateur site?

1 points by swidi ↗ HN
I run a blog using a static site generator and HTML templates that I created myself [1], but I'm admittedly an amateur and don't have up-to-date knowledge on best practices or modern design patterns.

Is there a job site or webdev community where I can hire a professional web developer to check my work and patch whatever problems I've made for myself? Is there an agreed-upon way to do this or should I simply ask around?

Thanks for any and all advice.

I can give you a few tips. What is the objective of your website? Currently is somewhat conf confusing as I can see the source when I visit. Did you deploy it yet?
Number 1 - your certificate has expired.

g.sr.ht uses an invalid security certificate. The certificate is not trusted because the issuer certificate has expired. (Error code: sec_error_expired_issuer_certificate)

Update: My apologies, so you are good here. I am running firefox in protected virtual machine for obvious reasons. you are using letsencrypt and they updated their certificates in oct 2021. https://www.arcanoae.com/wiki/arcaos/post-install-tips-hints...

i just figured out you are using sourcehat for your source control. You did not list your website above and I had to hunt for it. I assumed that the website was your sorucehut repository which looked odd until I figured this out. The resulting website is actually at https://rattlerake.com . relay this to anyone else who is going to provide feedback.
What do you believe your painpoints are? your site looks simple enough... Do you want to keep it that way?
