I have a DevTerm from clockwork pi [1] which is a very capable device modeled after a TRS 80.

It made me realize that the most important feature (to me) is the keyboard. Anything that you can't type on fluently is not really very useful.

The DevTerm has an almost large enough keyboard, but the keys are squishy and tilt slightly when typing, which kills touch typing. I really wish someone made a newer version of the Sony Vaio P - ultra slim, widescreen and perhaps a 60% sized keyboard.

The new pocket 3 [0] comes rather close to what I would consider ultimate (they listened to the backers, me included, asking for a zaurus like 2 in 1).

But… I am starting to dislike the long term value of this thing; it will break and then it is a throw away. I have most GDP devices and when they break, after about 3 years consistently, they will tell you it is too old to fix.

I ordered the Astro Slide [1] as well which has the same issue.

So the dream is, for me, a slightly smaller pocket 3, keyboard quality of the Slide, with 5g and the swivel screen with 1 Side lcd and one side (color) eink, running Linux and built like the Frame.work (easy to repair and upgrade). I don’t mind bulkier (meaning thicker, not wider); actually, I would welcome it for bigger batteries.

I would toss all my other devices.
