Ask HN: Starting a company comprised of an international team?

Hey HN,

Has anyone ever started a company comprised of an international team? For reference, I am creating a digital product.

On the surface it seems like it would create a lot of extra work legally and financially. Having never attempted this, nor knowing of anyone who has, I do not want to immediately discount the idea before hearing from someone experienced in this area.
