I was able to understand this phenomenon a bit when I realized that a number of Tesla supporters are simply pro car. Thus pedestrians, cyclists etc are considered interlopers to the roads, and if the supporters weren't Tesla enthusiasts they'd be making similar comments when driving their dinosaur burner.

It doesn't justify their comments, but at least made me understand a bit.

(I'm the opposite and believe all roads except controlled-access freeways and rail roads are for humans first, and then cyclists -- cars are there on sufferance)

This article is meant to influence opinion with anecdotes, without actually providing data. I would like to see articles like this cite actual stats on Tesla FSD accidents vs. human-driver accidents.
Well one has to correlate with several factors. A key value to that would be if Tesla shared anonymized, raw data from their FSD beta and human-drivers.

Since this data isn't publicly available by Tesla people are going to report anecdotal data.

Does Tesla know this? Of course they do.

Is it easy to share that kind of data? It is not trivial, but not as complicated as FSD.

Maybe it doesn't have a good ROI, I guess.

Elon has said multiple times, most recently at AI day, that the accident rate is 10x lower with FSD enabled
Elon might be slightly biased, even unwillingly.

Hard data would allow researchers to truly provide insights about FSD safety and road safety in general. Withholding hard data while citing them doesn't look good IMHO.

Highway vs urban are not equivalent miles. Highways miles are easy and cannot be taken as proof that the cars are truly Full Self Driving capable in all environments.
Purchased a pre-owned Model 3 last month. It's an amazing ride. So much better than any other car I've ever driven. Autopilot on the highway is very convenient, but even in those relatively situations it messes up every now and then. No way actual FSD is anywhere near.
Have you test-driven a Hyundai IONIQ 5 or Volkswagen ID.3/ID.4 or Ford Mustang Mach-E ?
As compared to, what, human drivers?

I am not convinced that Tesla is making good tradeoffs regarding saftey/driver convenience. But you will notice that the government can force Tesla to "recall" their software to make a full stop at stop signs. You can't do that to human drivers.
