I see a lot of blogs with the same brutalist aesthetics. I liked it at first but now it seems everyone is implementing similiar themes on their sites.

Now, I feel they could use some colors. They seem pretty boring.

The design is, uh, certainly not minimal.

I get your point. But, there is a lot of middle ground. Example: This site https://kinduff.com has a good colorscheme while being minimal.

For a blog I think it works great.

Having said that I don’t think that color is bad or not minimalist.

I'll take boring. Than to land on a blog, where I need to search for the content.

Minimalist is much better on a mobile device.

I'm fine with it. I'm not fine with a surprising number of blogs being left-aligned and capped to a width of like 4 pixels on a 27" monitor.
