The TL;DW is that a popular YT'er bought an open box mobo from NewEgg. He didn't need it, and returned it w/o opening the box. They refused to restock it, saying he damaged the CPU socket, and kept his money. After they sent it back to him, he found a sticker on it showing the Newegg had RMA'ed it to Gigabyte due to a damaged CPU socket.
"Newegg had RMA'ed it to Gigabyte" almost half a year before selling this known defective return as 100% working "open box". Pure scam, and YT comments are filled with people describing this same scenario happening to them, sounds like this is Newegg normal practice now.
My last PC build was using parts sourced from Newegg in 2017. I won’t buy another thing from them.
