I am a Ruby/Rails developer that is currently not writing Ruby/Rails code on the job. I use it for my private stuff and I would have loved to go back to developing in Ruby/Rails for money. On of my ex-coworkers and Ruby/Rails devs is currently also not working on paid Ruby/Rails code and is in a similar situation.
Both of us love Ruby and Rails. The language is rather expressive and the language AND community are rather fun. I think Ruby and Rails are making a bit of a comeback because people like us are moving back for our personal stuff and there is still a stream of new Devs coming in. I even got one of my friends to give it a try and he likes it and is planing to do personal projects in Rails.
