How does this is “smart”?

This doesn't sound like there is anything smart about it.

PS Don't take this personally, I generally dislike calling anything "smart", "AI" etc.

'Smart' generally implies that it can do something on it's own.

I want to crop an image, I give it parameters for how I want the outputted, cropped image. If I use a smart crop function, I expect it to use some engineering magic to determine where the activity is happening in the image, and making it's own estimated crop.
