if you want to surface reddit content or summarise the web or get quick answers from stack overflow or see more content from your favourite sites first without ads you.com is the way to go.

Quoting Fast Company:

  "At present, that leaves You.com without a way of making money." 

And it leaves the user without any basis to judge how "private" it will ultimately be.

Until they figure this part out, I'm sticking with DDG.
