Ignoring hot takes from the media, I'm curious about people's take on the rise of crypto start ups. Even in Montreal, I remember getting pitched crypto businesses 10 years ago. Is there just currently too much venture capital with not enough good investments? Is this another dot-com boom? Is it just me who has a deep distaste for anything crypto (perhaps aside from smart contracts)?
What I keep hearing in VC land is that founders no longer pitch them, they now pitch founders. So yeah I'd say there's a surplus of capital. That plus the hype probably makes anything that mentions blockchain worth investing in from a VC perspective. Same reason people are buying pictures of apes.
