I find weird they didn't mention excalidraw, or did I miss it?

It's clearly a fork, at least from the UI point of view

Go to the tool: https://googlecloudcheatsheet.withgoogle.com/architecture

Then click on the "?" box on the bottom right, and then on Documentation.

It takes you to the excalidraw github.

Thx! I still find weird they don't mention it at all in the article, but this is fair at least :)
To be honest, it looks more like they forgot to remove the link than they mean to credit the original project. Anyway, excalidraw is a great project, and I'm happy more people get to know about it thanks to this kind of usage
The animation when you select a category is way to long, I hated it after the first minute of using it.
Basically copying lucid chart and draw.io
> 3. Deploy with one click. Once you are happy with your architecture you need a simple way to just deploy it. You can deploy all the architecture components in Google Cloud with a single click.

Can they do this?

no, touche, i did not read any of the actual article i just looked at the pictures
Diagramming tools are pretty common. It’s not like those two players invented the concept. Even if they did, people trying to build a better lightbulb is how competition works.
Lucid is pretty poor for ERDs, we could use a lot more competition in this space.
Feels kinda emblematic of Google’s lack of investment in Draw that its not the basis for this.
