My backup batteries and solar panels were a great investment. My power never goes out. It’s a trip when the entire neighborhood is dark except your house.
In the sunbelt or not? You’ll get more power outages in places with weather and overhead power lines with overhanging trees. AZ also tends to have newer infrastructure.
Rural California. Nearest substation is 10 miles away. There is one line of medium voltage electricity into the entire town that goes through sandy almost wetland soil. Rain and wind can make the powerlines fall and routinely do. Sometimes someone crashes into them.
I'm not counting the rolling blackouts or whatever.
