Linux doesn't really need to support many filesystems. You will probably want to be using ZFS anyways.

Different filesystens for different usecases. I do not want to run ZFS on my RPi.

Or on my desktop/gaming PC, where you want the latest kernel which currently does not work with openzfs.

I actually recently switched all my laptops and desktops from openzfs to just luks/lvm/ext4. Faster for common use and I really do not need snapshots with nixos. And for snapshots there is always btrfs...

openzfs master is usually compatible with linux master

If you want to use the latest kernel, then use the latest openzfs.

My only concern would be around whether there's a need to be able to read old ReiserFS media. I'd imagine it would suck if you've got some Linux 7.1 kernel or somesuch in the future and can't read some old media you had lying around - though I suppose if it's really that important one could always spin up an older kernel in a VM and extract the data that way.
