There are some really interesting points in there, thanks for posting.

I would add that map-making seems to overlap with some other disciplines like video editing and technical asset trading, in that it both concerns and requires thinking in multiple scales in a fluid way. Front and back-end interface solutions for this still have gobs of room for development. But when it comes it's always welcome...
