With the federal government instituting a vaccine mandate (that the courts mostly struck down over time) my company decided it was "get vaccinated or you'll be fired". You had to self-certify, then send in a copy of your proof of vaccination. Unless you had a medical exemption, you would be separated from the company if not vaccinated by the deadline.
It's still the policy and now proof of a booster is needed or again "you'll be separated from the company".
I am vaccinated and HR knows this because of private conversations, but if they officially demanded a certificate, I think I would have called it quits. Many people don't have that option so I sometimes think it would be prudent to at least communicate that there are consequences for such unreasonable demands by those that have the opportunity.
I understand a mandate for vaccinations in certain occupations relating to health. It is something you have to personally accept if you want to work in the field. But I am torn if the Covid vaccines would qualify as adequate protection compared to classical vaccinations.
