Ask HN: How possible is it to get Qualcomm to release Blackberry devices?

I hope I'm asking this correctly, but since Blackberry has ceded the consumer market to Apple, those of us who love our BB keyboards are out of lick. It is my understanding that the OS can't be changed because of vendor lock. So is it possible to pay/plead with Qualcomm to release our phones? Otherwise..the waste and my poor fat fingers keyboard are lost for good....
