Save money on Next.js image optimization (dmitry-ishkov.com)

I know the article is a bit bare-bones - pretty much dumping the code on you, but wanted to share my solution in case anyone else finds it useful.

I was planning to do this myself. Thanks for the article. I am ok with the code dump :D

Right now I am using nginx with the image_filter module + caching to do this.
