Ukraine vs Russia certainly favored Russia, but realistically what does Russia have to show for it? They hold some highways and chernobyl? Maybe a few small things but they have spent what? $100 billion so far? Thats not even trying to account for sanctions at all.
Taking chernobyl was idiotic. Every solider they have defending it is getting fatal doses of radiation. The fighting and movement through the area is killing belarus. Ukraine knew not to defend it.
Lets say Russian military is as awesome as their rep suggests... they are getting absolutely wrecked. By a bunch of civilians?
I dont underestimate the russians, but it suggests the spetsnaz are being routed by someone else who are simply better. Where are the seals, rangers, and dragoons? Massive proxy war explains why the russians are being wrecked.
In fact look at the amount of support... general mobilization + this much support? They are the most supplied and motivated freedom fighters in the world.
Its a completely unwinnable war for russia and only a matter of time their troops make a huge accident and cross the wrong line.
Kofman claims that Russia is yet to treat this war as a conventional one. What we have seen so far is not representative of their capabilities. There is military failure, but it's also a question of how much destruction Russia is willing to inflict.
Unfortunately there is plenty of room for escalation. Putin may not be willing or able to throw in the towel. Cornering a wild animal can be dangerous.
Definitely true... public sensors like weather. Well, i guess you could argue belarus claim is dependent on wind direction. The troops at chernobyl though? No question they are fatally irradiated.

The nazi crap seems to have been confusion. It seems Russia believed their own propaganda. They genuinely thought that they were liberating the people who were oppressed. They thought that the ukrainian people were on their side or something. Instead the russian military sure looks trash right now.
This isn't some spec ops precision strike. This is a conventional war. Yes, it's very true that Russia has much more. Said nukes are on alert.

Like what? It's a war crime to intentionally target civilians or civilian buildings. Cruise missiles largely speaking took out most military. Air force has nothing left to really target. Meanwhile antiair is plentiful to keep russia out of the air.
Navy has hit their one target and is now stuck in the black sea burning fuel.
This is an army battle. Russian armor is collapsing. so many destroyed tanks. All the allies are providing antiarmor ammo to ukraine.
I've heard no one, yet, consider that maybe Russia wanted to get crushed on its first pass. If we think of it from a psy ops perspective, they said they were going in to support the independence of the people is certain regions. They can now spin their domestic propaganda that they went in as peace keepers but we're surprise attacked and murdered trying to keep the peace. Then use that as justification for overt total war. Or not.

Where's the escalation beside using nukes?
