I think there are a lot of us who don't believe crypto will achieve the ideals you've outlined above. If the current implementations don't evolve then there is always the potential for new systems that do what you've described.
Personally, I’m against crypto because of the aggressive marketing that has fuelled a speculation boom. It’s disingenuous that crypto is being marketed to mainstream people who don’t understand the risk, volatility, and even concept of having a personal wallet.
Not all of us are anti cryptocurrency technology, per se.
But “Crypto”, as a cultural context in which most of these discussions happen, is a pyramid scheme targeting ignorance. Or, in the more charitable cases, it’s a risky Forex gamble.
I can be happy for the existence of a (mostly) decentralized currency without rah-rahing the bullshit of “Crypto” as a get rich quick scheme.
And I can be worried that Cryptobros will fuck it up for the rest of us by attracting the wrong kind of attention.
