Are testosterone supplements or growth hormone supplements a life-enhancer in old age, especially for men? I hate seeing my father get older and frailer and wonder how much difference just boosting his testosterone a bit would help.
Not a bad idea, but needs to be done under the guidance of a medical professional and he would need to get on some exercise regiment to get the full benefits of the supplementation.
There is a big difference between older people who sit around watching the news all day and those who practically live at your local YMCA. I strength train with quite a few people in their seventies. Full of energy. The sedentary ones have a laundry list of interactive drugs and only get out when they get carted to one of their weekly doctor visits.
There’s a decent amount of work around SARMs to fight sarcopenia.
With such a small threshold of effect (able to do 30 minutes of lifting per week / not doing anything), are they able to distinguish correlation from causation here?
This is what I always wonder about these studies. How do you differential people who do regular exercise with those who eat healthy? Clearly there is correlation between those.
30 minutes per week might be a easy as 5 minute warmup followed by three sets of 3 max weight bench presses then 5 minute rest, twice a week. This alone is huge and you will see effects in the mirror in 1-2 months. The key is max weight, not aerobic exercises.
All causes? Even lightning strikes?
