Russia - the country, not its president - had a chance to get out of this so far. If they start shelling or bombing Kyiv all bets are off. There are approximately 3.75 million people living there, and the Russians have cut off all exits so I'm not really sure how he wants them to leave. This starts to look like Grozny all over again.
They already do this in Kharkiv. Yesterday and today, they were shelling residential areas for no reason. Also, today they dropped two bombs from the planes. The first bomb was dropped on the city center. And the second one near the residential building and hospital.
No, start detaining the "elite"'s relatives and seize their property. Investigate their souce of income, and legality of their new citizenships or residence status.
Fuck. This is the moment I've been dreading for the last week, it means that there is a significant chance this conflict will now escalate rapidly. Europe will not stand by while a city of millions is slaughtered, at least, while at the same time I hope they won't I am painfully aware of the possible consequences of not standing by and would rather disappear than to live with the shame of doing nothing. This is just too ugly, all of it. The world we've created has handed way too much power to unstable individuals, and assuming we get out of this is a root cause that needs addressing.
