Ok Grigoriy! I heard Putin lives below the poverty line?
Dear Comrade, you're very wrong if you think that i'm pro-Putin. But i'm also disappointed in heroification of Zelensky that is currently so common in social media.
Youre disappointed about a leader whose country is being invaded not bowing to pressure and rallying his people? Not sure what your criteria for heroism is but it doesn’t seem particularly based in reality.
Is it "heroic" to enter a war with no official support from the West then call on the West to help you? This isn't a movie. This is people dying because he won't give up his right-wing dream of a "free Ukraine" that will still have to do business with its giant neighbor and will always be under that neighbor's influence. Canada is the same for the US. It needs to play the game. Taiwan is the same for China. It plays the game.

Is it "heroic" to stop men from leaving the country so they can fight a war they have no interest in fighting? That seems a bit like he's infringing on their freedom, no? Why is this ignored?

I think OP wanted to make a point that Z is not all sunshine and rainbows.

International politics is not a spectator sport. You don't get to pick one side and root for it like a mindless football fanatic
I think a lot of what is wrong with the world today can be explained by the observation that people have a hard time understanding two things can be wrong at the same time.
Yeah, i noticed that as well. People love to choose sides and even change their own judgments just to fit into closest side. E.g. left vs right narrative is a perfect example.

That's very interesting drawback of humans. Would be interesting to see research into that. I think that's definitely the thing that we want to solve in the future to build a better society.

I've never had a website block me for not accepting cookies before.
This smells like propaganda to me.

Who would benefit from us reading this 5 month old information at this critical juncture?

That wasn't the intention of this submission. I saw a lot of heroification of Zelensky in social media. And saw this in one of the replies. I think it's important to consider a different side of the story as well.
Heroic of you to argue in good faith, but I don't see HN as a platform where you can have good faith discussions about politics that aren't simply regurgitations of western propaganda. Somehow all of history is now irrelevant because current events are happening, any context must be discarded in favour of the urgent situation we are in, as if other conflicts in the world ceased to exist. It's a sad situation, but I would recommend not wasting mental energy or you'll just find yourself frustrated and depressed.
If I understood it correctly, it was BEFORE he was elected as president, isn’t it? He was an actor, a celebrity and he own pricey London real estates? I don’t see why it’s worth a headline.
I think it's a little bit more complex. Offshores were established before Zelensky become a president. But it was long speculated that Zelensky's presedency was supported by oligarch Kolomoisky. Data that was leaked via Pandora papers, as far as i understand, shows us a mechanism, how financial support was provided by Kolomoisky.
I don’t know where did you read in the Pandora papers that Kolomoisky was involved. If you have the passage, please point out. What I do know is Kolomoisky was publicly designated by the US government as involved in significant corruption in the Ukraine. The normal logic dictates that if Zelensky was heaved to presidency using Kolomoisky’s money, the US government must take a distance from him and his government after the public designation of Kolomoisky. But what we see is quite the opposite, a full corporation with the Zelensky government.

Besides, for political topics, especially on time-sensitive topics like this one, it might be helpful if you reveal your true nationality.

This appears to be purely about politics, which is off topic.
Is politics really off topic for HN? (UPDATE: just looked in guidelines. And yeah, i agree that my submission is off topic).

Could it be the reason why this submission is taken down completely from actively discussed topic page?
