Ask HN: Should I tell hiring manager about a rude interviewer and future peer

I recently received an offer from a well known tech firm after multiple interviews with the team I will be joining. A senior developer in the interview was rude and abrasive leaving me with an icky feeling . I sensed that he viewed me as a threat to his seniority and influence and being a jerk. I do not want to work with someone like that and will be turning down the offer . Should I tell the hiring manager my reason ? I feel that he is not aware of some cliques and jerks in the team.

That was my initial impression and gut feeling from my interviews.

You are reading a whole lot into another person from one brief encounter. We all have bad days.

If this person is habitually rude, then you are not telling the manager anything he doesn't know. If the person was having a bad day, then you should probably have given him a wide berth and let it be. If the person is a jerk behind the manager's back, then it's up to the manager to sort that out. I don't see it as your job to help him with that. He's unlikely to give too much credence to your feedback anyway, as you are rejecting the offer. People do not take feedback well when it's mixed in with disappointment.

Contrary to everyone else, I'd say to trust your instinct. If the person has been unpleasant and you are reasonably confident that it was directly targeted at you, follow the red flags and don't suffer unnecessarily, especially if you have alternatives.

if you are rejecting the offer, then it isnt your problem to address. if you took the job the situation might be different. otherwise you are just interjecting your opinion into a situation you have insufficient information about and no stake in the outcome.
