I also think there should be an out for him and Russia where they don't get humiliated. Escalating a war is not good for anyone.

Today on 1A (https://the1a.org/segments/russias-invasion-led-to-a-million...), Kurt Volker (U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine Negotiations; former U.S. ambassador to NATO; former principal deputy assistant secretary of State for European and Eurasian affairs) responded to a listener question about the US and allies providing an off ramp, a way to allow Putin to save face. Volker said that Putin has "dedicated himself to this military path." And that Putin is not interested in an off ramp. The question/answer can be found around 38:24.
