One way to help Ukranians directly

Book an Airbnb anywhere in Ukraine. Let the host know you are not coming and that you are using the booking to help financially. Ask them to help others.

good idea, just booked one night in Kiev to support. Airbnb takes 0% fees thats good. Thanks

edit: just got this message from Kherson via airbnb: "Hello! Thank you very much for your support! I can’t hold back my tears! The whole world is helping Ukraine in the war against vile Russia! We believe in Victory! The Russian military is bombing our houses, civilians are dying. Children are forced to hide in basements from rocket attacks and starve! I will definitely share your money with the children! Thank you very much!"

I recommend to book airbnb in bombed cities.

Did you book a place that has history, or a new listing which could be a scammer?
with history, someone from Kherson
It's absolutely a kind gesture, however as much as I would like to do this, at this moment there is no way to verify that Airbnb hosts are not fake,(for example fake princes from any location). This is bound to be easily abused and funds may or may not directly go to those who need them.
> however as much as I would like to do this

Do it.

Don't condemn everyone just because you think some might game the system. More than likely, what you would be doing is deny someone much-needed help. Most people are good. Most people are just like you.

I have another way to help, I am trying to find jobs for those who want to relocate, add your details at withpublic.com and we do our best to find a safer country and a job.
This is absolutely horrible idea. There are cities that are safe (Lvov). Dont book airbnb that refugees can book themselves. If you want to send money, send money to humanitarian organisation.

As for cities that are obviously not safe, still, humanitarian org. might be better.

> This is absolutely horrible idea.

I've been booking rooms in a range of places in Ukraine and having conversations with hosts. The money has gone to good use. For example, one of the hosts said she was OK and she was going to donate the funds to a children's hospital in need.

Now, I know some are going to ask: How do you know they are not scammers?

Well, you do a little research. Beyond that, you can either assume people good or bad. I'd rather assume they are just like me and lend a helping hand when I can.

Don't do this unless Airbnb is not taking any fees.
Hi there, my name is Dmytro. I'm a Ukrainian citizen working in software development. At this moment I am with my colleagues in some shelter in the west of Ukraine. We are working in the cyber/information war against Russia.

Ukrainian Volunteers with the support of the Cabinet Minister of Ukraine created a website with unified info on how every person in the world can help Ukraine win the war started by insane Putin.

This is the best option for you to help us. Please check and share with your community.
