There is some truths to this but there is way more to the modern economy than addiction. What about electric cars, rockets, crypto, cloud, AI...?

If by "crypto" you mean cryptocurrency, it's an often addictive form of gambling, like many modern types of investing can be.

Makes sense. Humans are computers that are programmed to chase dopamine, so we favor the quick release / intense dopamine activities aka addictive ones.
