It's really terrifying that we have reached a point where you have to stop and think how to battle against all this woke nonsense or else you will become a social outcast immediately.
So you find yourself altering your behavior because you're afraid of the consequences of your actions?

That's called being part of society. You're not being "canceled". You've just ignored all the feedback loops and society decided you're no longer worth the effort.

Silence and contempt is usually the career saving answer. While the public messaging is different, I believe there is a strong incentive to not hire too outspoken people as they are highly divisive in a work environment. But the academic world very likely looks differently. Ironic that the alleged accusations of discrimination became true mainly due to their censorious actions.

A lot of people support those in danger of getting cancelled out of protest and it seems to be working quite well. Advertisers might be still more careful here, but that isn't only a bad thing.

Bail out and start a turkey farm. The Academia nuts have gone rotten; there's no way to keep your integrity while wallowing in the rot.
