Ask HN: Why does iOS allow auto pasting from clipboard

I’m wondering what’s the rationale for iOS allowing apps to automatically paste what’s in the clipboard before you’ve had a chance to understand if you wanted that to happen or not.

I have to think there is a UX reason but the leakage of data and content to random apps is amazingly stupid. It ranges from passwords you have copied to entire emails you were editing.

Any thoughts?
