I mean.. look at his github handle:

    Farbod rimthekid
    farbod@nigge.rs
God that's a fucked up choice of online aliases. What the fuck.
What kind of user name is that?!
Sounds like someone's getting cancelled.
You mean shown the door for behaving like an imbecile?
Probably he means an ability to "show the door" / "to be shown the door" per se.
Honestly, why do people create usernames like that? Sure, there are different levels of humor in the world. Famously, Linus (from Torvalds) and the comments he made caused, historically pain in LKML but as we all (in the world) as becoming closer due to centralisation of services - should we all slowly align a bit to openness (i.e) from both sides. Do not offend and do not get offended.
To tell the truth I can not understand why do people get offended from something meant to be offendful. Just use the bits of code which are working properly and do not cosplay Russians at their ability to see enemy forces at anything. Doesn't the situation with kik and leftpad teaches us something?
I don't understand how the leftpad debacle is similar to this...and what's this about Russians?
Lefpad history learns that it may be painful for folks when someone responsible for hosting of code is doing something opposite to idea of hosting code.

Claim about Russians may be not understood worldwide, sorry about that. I meaned some kind of character when people ban some other people just because they just have fun of punishing. I wish to have a public code hosting without ability to remove something from, to prevent more and more limitations over time of what can be stored there. Sorry, that was my little insult.

that's what TOS are for. And free lunch without legal claim.
Seems pretty obvious why the account has been suspended- user created a wilfully offensive user name and email domain
Oh shit. Yeah, he earned the ban. Why do people do this, unless they are pre-adolescent or juvenile how is joking about CP acceptable behavior to a person.
That's a bit of a slippery slope with the username. I thought it meant "Research In Motion The Kid".

What if I made a username based on a tradition like in my city (Sächsilüüte) where we burn a snowman named Böög made out of paper and explosives. Let's say I use "burntheböög". Turns out in Swedish, Böög is a derogatory term for gay, so how do you deal with that?

Or even more nuanced. In England cigarettes are often called "Fags". So In England it would be ok to have username "ismokefags" which in the US this would be considered highly offensive.

If one uses GitHub then one accepts that they have the final say in what usernames are acceptable and what usernames are not acceptable.

It’s not as if GitHub doesn’t have a ToS that clearly states this.

“We do not allow content or activity on GitHub that:

(…) is sexually obscene or relates to sexual exploitation or abuse, including of minors;

(…) is discriminatory or abusive toward any individual or group”

If one really cares that much about being able to choose a username freely, it’s probably best to use a self-hosted GitHub alternative.

OTOH, why choose that particular hill to die on?

Doubt.

No one has an e-mail address with tld "nigge.rs" from the Service "cock.li" without beeing obviously offensive on purpose.

Why is it so hard for people to understand that if they want to access to basic services on the internet they have to conform to normal behavior standards?
I can't name my account after sexual assault on children and use a racial slur as email domain? Literally 1984.

So use a service without morals. Some exist.
@dang Can you edit the title to "LibreTube main devs account has been suspended by GitHub for obvious reasons" perhaps ?
Why editioralize, when you can just flag.
Reasons does not matter: for instance I have an account here to post. Nothing special. But the account is not really mine, is something on HN servers, out of my control. If someone who have access to those systems decide to ban me reasons does not matter, I have essentially nothing to counter.

Because of that people MUST learn a thing: using third party services is ok, as long as you are still operational without them. For GitHub there is for instance nothing wrong in hosting code on it BUT it MUST end up there, no PR, no CI no others stuff GH offers, just a public repo. Until GH works ok the repo is visible, you get free bandwith etc. When it became unavailable no issues, there are few other code hoster and you can continue develop as usual.

Owning a ML, develop on it, owning a domain name with a small "just homepage" simple site it's pretty cheap, even just with casual donations can be kept up "for free". Choosing NOT to own them because some third party services are nicer and demand less works means choosing to be at risk. That's is.

If even FLOSS devs do not understand that we are doomed, as society, because it's true that in a theoretical full inter-dependent world we must be good citizens to exists, but practice prove another thing: few doing "something better" or at least being more able to spread their services more or less quickly gain dominance and outshine the rest, as a result there is no "theoretical free market" and no anti-trust can help so inter-dependency is not balanced. The sole way to remain in balance at the practical proof is to exists in decentralized systems designed to be owned by no one where interoperability is mandatory just to keep the system up.

Preface: I'm Iranian.

Ah another Iranian using words and not realizing the history behind it. Or worse, realizing it and using it anyway.

I don't get what the fuck is wrong with your Farbod, get your shit together and open a history book.

I'm playing lots of mmorpgs. One day I created a char named candoom. I got so many tells by people apparently specializing in creating pun names. I didn't know that kind of thing was such a popular sport.

It's just the guy's sense of humor, so what.

I'm on his side, even if I don't share his views.

If people get offended by rimthekid or cock.li they need to ask themselves who's the one having a problem. Maybe pull that stick out their butts and develop a sense of humor.

Microsoft is evil. That's why I pulled all my repos (over 100) from github. They have zero power over me. They favor big corporations.

I had a dispute with the Go team over a font which lead to my account turning invisible. Lesson learned: Don't trust Microsoft with anything.
