Ask HN: Any good SDE experiences at Amazon?

I’m considering and offer from Amazon and the primary reason is that is a pretty significant compensation bump from my previous one.

Searching around, even here the sentiment is that being an SDE at Amazon it’s pretty terrible, that SDMs are incompetent, etc.

There’s also the comment that it all depends on the team you end up, which does little to help clarify and properly weight the offer.

I also think that negative experiences are louder than good ones so I was wondering if there are Amazon SDEs here that have enjoyed their time at Amazon?
