Of course it isn't the next big thing.

Just as I and all the crypto skeptics have already said, You cannot use any of these crypto tokens as a form of fast payment, without scams, without damaging the planet, without the huge volatility and speculation and without it also being used on the dark net.

There is no real world legal use-case and it is a complete scam.

I use it to pay for DNS and my phone bill, it works very well for periodic payments especially for experimental digital products (I get VOIP service from a Canadian startup that got kicked off paypal.)

I really like the idea of having an "ssh for money" even if its less fast. Early this year a bank randomly closed my account for no reason without telling me and mailed the contents to my sister's house in a cashiers check.

> You cannot use any of these crypto tokens as a form of fast payment

Compared to what? Sending funds to residents of some parts of the world might be frustrating as hell if using not crypto.

> without scams

Consider to learn something about an idea of trustless.

> without damaging the planet

Consider to find a good use of extra heat if you are mining.

> without the huge volatility

Let me guess - your country is not being invaded by enemy soldiers and its currency is not being in free fall.

> and speculation

Thanks Satoshi I do not need to ask some authorities about what to buy and when to sell it.

> without it also being used on the dark net.

You have chosen a wrong goal to follow, dark net does not mean dark ages.

> There is no real world legal use-case and it is a complete scam.

So, maybe you're living not in real world? In a world where everybody from governments is always fair? And evil Satoshi Nakamoto steals your money/coins/soberness?

The fact you cannot even refute any of these clear valid points, not even with a token that fits all the criteria shows that crypto is completely a scam and you've just admitted that. Your arguments have been heard all before and backed up by nothing.

Because in reality, No token, blockchain or "coin" fits any of this, which means there isn't a use-case at all, which is exactly what all the crypto skeptics including myself are saying.

What a pity that Bitcoin does not fit your criteria.

Even bigger pity is that you refuse to consider your "valid" criteria as too shaped towards your wishes.

> not even with a token that fits all the criteria

Totally wrong! US Dollar seems to be perfect for your criteria of not being a Satoshi's designed currency.

> What a pity that Bitcoin does not fit your criteria. Even bigger pity is that you refuse to consider your "valid" criteria as too shaped towards your wishes.

So the 'Bitcoin' token you've mentioned is fast and stable right? I should be able to pay for something in bitcoin in the grocery store on chain without the price fluctuating?

> Totally wrong! US Dollar seems to be perfect for your criteria of not being a Satoshi's designed currency.

OK? you've just proved my point exactly, then why use any of these crypto tokens at all? All pointless.

> I would define the crypto movement as a group of people against financial institutions.

That is just wrong. The crypto movement is not just people and not everybody of them defines himself as "against financial institutions". It is like claiming all Linux people as "against Windows".

> Why Blockchain is not going to be the next big thing?

Because it has been established as previous one?
