Ask HN: What is Linus Torvalds's view on crypto, if any?

I'm sure he's a fan of cryptography.

He's generally in favor (why wouldn't he?), but is a bit hesistant when it comes to a perceived "security over all" stance.

There's a quote floating around about security bugs being just bugs, not something inherently more important.

I've tried emailing him many times about bigfoot and he never responds. You might have better luck that me.
