I think this is the first time in my life I've ever personally seen it down. That's actually quite impressive, given that I use Wikipedia more than I use Google and I've seen Google go down more times (fully understanding their workloads are entirely different, it's just that you also don't expect google to go down either).

Same here, to the point that I'm unsure where else to get reliable, neutral information of this kind.

Check out the Kiwix app, it can download the entirety of Wikipedia (and other wikis) to your device for offline reading.
