Ask HN: European starting internship in Bay Area, where to go?

Hi. I'll be starting an internship in Redwood City, CA for 6 months, starting this summer. I'm from western Europe and pretty excited to live in the US for a while. Looking to meet some cool (tech) people while I'm there, any tips for where to look for houses, etc?
