Given the wonders of the internet and the chatterverse, if you participate in something you’re indicating you support or at least are comfortable with the political or ethical position of the host. “I didn’t know” doesn’t work anymore. ‘Course, participants might just be soulless folks in it for the money, but then that’s know as well.
Why the header of HN post so differs from the header of linked article? Former is something general and latter is something about Qatar.
I wished to make it a general comment but I’ll change it back. This is a symptom of the disease not the complete corpus.
Done. My point was, and is, is that there is more than enough information available today that nobody can do something and claim to be ignorant of anything involved with the process. This makes the participants full agents in what goes down rather than “just doing their job”.

If you take money from X, then you’re showing you’re at least comfortable with X or just like money or fame or notoriety so much it’s easy to not give a sh*t.

For their contributions to slavery, the repression of women and minorities, and the invasions of Yemen and Libya, they deserve to be more of a pariah than Russia. Unfortunately the West is only ever hypocritical.
Give it some time, only one big crisis can be active at a time.

When hopefully Russia has left Ukraine, there will be more focus on Qatar.

But since Qatar is not the only Arab country that should receive sanctions, it might not be so easy to do.

In the meantime the West should do all it can to skip the reliance on Arab oil, which is also easier said than done.
