Simple concepts like this can enable a lot of possibilities and functionality that wasn't thought of by the people that created it. I've got one of these packs and for the laptop/document use case it's basically perfect. If you need extra pockets or water bottle holders, it's easy. Pens clip to it easy too, so do flashlights, multi tools, etc.
