Here's an article from the other side of this where parents are concerned that literal pornography is being put in books aimed at children. Books from the NPR article are mentioned, but this article gives some example passages that have had parents alarmed:
Thank you. I have been trying to stay quiet about this topic because it's career suicide in my field (and most fields) but recent events in my own life have led me to less silence.
This sexualization, this coordinated and forced (yes, forced) effort to demand pre-sexual/pre-pubescent children to perform for mentally ill adults (LGBTQIAPP++, MAP) has reached a threshold where it is no longer "those crazy right wingers on the internet being *-phobic" into my own unassuming relatively rural life. I will not be silent any longer. This shit needs to stop, and any of you who think "empathy" is the key or "love is love" need to be treated as highly suspicious. There's something fantastically wrong with you and it's not normal, never will be, and your attempts to make it normal show your true intentions.
I suppose banning (or cancelling) of books for adults is mostly being done by the left, while banning (or attempted banning) of books for children is mostly being done by the right.
