Ask HN: Burger King's app won't send orders to BK stores, who can fix it?

Every time I used the BK app it charges me for the food but the store never gets the order. I checked the address that it was the right store and it said purchase was approved. The store never gets the order and I have to order again at the register. It is an Android Samsung phone and my son has a newer Samsung phone and it happens to him as well. I tried reporting it to BK but they never get back. Competitor apps work just fine just not BK's app. Anyone know how to fix it or tell BK to fix it? It is frustrating that the orders do not go through. We get an order number and get charged, but no order gets through. Anyone else have this problem?

You could get a job at Burger King IT department and fix it. I just drive thru and order through the microphone.
You are missing out on discounts if you don't use the app. Like $1 large onion rings.
Burger King's app has always sucked. They refuse to fix it. McDonald's works better because they have better quality IT than BK. Don't go to BK anymore, boycott them until they fix their app.

I'd rather take my chances with an app that's accidentally broken a lot than support one that's intentionally hostile to me. The McDonald's app tries to detect if your phone is rooted, and refuses to work at all if it is.

I dunno, you can reach the point of blocking rooted phones without malice, too.

Like, they get an internal or external pentest (maybe as part of PCI), consultant has finding "hey best practice is block root / add obfusc / etc", ticket enters backlog, dev shrugs "I guess the experts are telling me to..."

That's normally how it happens.

Sure, maybe it's just gross incompetence. But since websites can't detect root, as long as they're allowed to accept and save credit card numbers, there's never a legitimate reason for native apps to need to detect root to do so.
If BK isn't going to fix the problem with their app, you're probably out of luck.

Then again, this could be a sign: ditch the app. And ditch BK. Find another alternative for food (preferably a healthier one).
