Ask HN: Career Progression options for Senior Engineers

I'm a fairly newly minted senior engineer (by title)

What kind of career progression is there? Do I just shoot for the next level (Staff which are usually older than me in my org) or do I try to accumulate raises.

I can try to go for a lead position but I don't know how I would perform as a lead.

I'm not sure what the move is right now. I would like to stay at my current company because pre-ipo.

Any thoughts?
