Ask HN: What are good alternatives to Google Docs for collaborative writing?

I’m trying to move away from Google services this year, but I still have to find a good alternative to Google Docs.

What I’m looking for is an online writing application, that supports sharing in-progress work and allowing reviewers to comment inline. What do you use, if you’re not using Google Docs?

Nextcloud has been filling this area nicely for my team. It's not perfect, but very good and usable.

Thanks, I will try that. Can documents be shared such that people without an account can edit/comment?

Might be a bit tall order, but how about Git?

Thanks, but my reviewers might not all be very technical inclined (e.g. a school teacher), so something with a bit more easy to use interface.
