Poll: Should state representatives be allowed to entertain members of public?

Some time ago, I received an invitation to meet a senator I had written to[1], should members of the public be allowed to meet state representatives this way? It could unlock improper relationships such as a member of the public could slip the state representative something to sweeten their relationship.

What are you going to do, lock them away in a compound until their term is up?

Meeting members of the general public is one of the few things that theoretically counterbalance the influence that lobbyists have over lawmakers.

And no one really needs to slip them a bribe, per-se, they just need to make a contribution to their campaign fund.
