Low frequencies need to be much louder than mid frequencies to be heard at the same volume. Tiny speaker cones do not have enough power to make low frequencies audible, at least without extra technology. Apple uses passive radiators and speaker enclosures to get around this limitation. PC laptop companies either aren't interested in investing in improving this or can't due to patents.
What I think is kinda weird is that both the iPhone 13 and the 14" M1 MacBook Pro has kind of the same sound signature -- full range but kind of "hollow" or "wooden" or "nutty" sound IDK how to explain it without sounding completely like an audiophile (which I'm not)

Like the thock when you type on the MPB or tap the glass on the iPhone, that sort of color
