Why are narcissists, sadists, and manipulators attracted to money? Capitalism undeniably rewards behaviors of the sociopathic end of the spectrum instead of selflessness, idealism, or charity.
The fact that we get some technological benefit/blowback from it is what makes it an accepted structure to society (despite the fact it may be threatening us existentially).
The term "money laundering" is quite the artificial legal category IMO. Money itself is by its very nature intended to "launder". It abstracts away WHATEVER was done to acquire it, to get converted to it, to accumulate it.
Governments have known this for a long time and impose some restrictions and limitations, which the fact that the vast majority money is really just database values/ledger entries rather than gold or silver or paper money (and that is then loaned/leveraged, so even that... anyway), and the IT age makes exchanging that basically a slow two-phase commit with some security.
What is crypto? Reducing even more that government control, oversight, and identity. My god, a sociopath and con man's dream.
Thus is crypto, which is based on security, actually about security? Eh, no. That's just a cover for the con. Have we learned nothing from the twitter "aaaand its gone" joke / shot across the bow?
This is a terrible article and a terrible study in 'social sciences'.
If you want to read a piece that will echochamber the original detractors claiming 'darknet' criminals are the only ones using crypto, then this had got your name all over it.
