At first I noticed maps.google.com wasn’t responding. Then googling “is Google down?” failed too.

It all seems to be working now, but Downhound and other outage sites seem to corroborate the temporary outage.

I couldn't load any *.google.com sites for a solid 10 min window, basically trying constantly, while able to load facebook, amazon, bing, twitter, etc in less than 1 sec each.

Problem resolved for me at 2:07 pm Pacific time.

Don't read their Site Reliability Engineering book. It's a manual on the steps nobody takes to manage outages.
Downhound creator here. Thanks for linking to the site; hope it was able to provide a bit of clarity on the situation on Google yesterday. Google's outage was pretty short, around 10-15 minutes or so.

What new features/data would you like to see in Downhound in the future?
