This bill seems too good to be true, but so far, it has passed a Senate committee and may yet get a floor vote.

I searched for details of it on HN search but didn't see many comments about it. What does HN think of this bill and/or its chances of actually passing both houses during this legislative session?

The bill in short, Apple/Google etc cannot:

1. require u to use their payment system

2. prevent apps from telling about alternate payment methods

3. prevent users from installing apps or app stores

4. prevent users from choosing apps or app stores as defaults for a given activity (call apps, browsers, emails etc.)

5. (and this is the one that got me excited enough to post this) prevent users from hiding or deleting apps or app stores provided by or preinstalled by the app store owner or business partners

6. companies must provide the same basic API documentation / support to 3rd party devs as they do to first party devs
