I am quite sure Marine Le Pen will not be France's next president. Yet it would be nice to have some reassuring intelligent person as her opponent, as Emmanuel Macron is quite frightening if for different reasons.
In 2017 I was seduced by the idea of a young leader modernizing France as Giscard D'estaing did in the 1970'. The result is far from that, it seems the main goal of Macron is to antagonize and sometimes insult every facet of the French society. In the same vein he is known for insulting foreign leaders (Boris Johnson, Erdoğan, Mateusz Morawiecki, Algerian leaders, etc).
The result is that France is now in a worse situation that it was following Flanby's and Sarkozy's disastrous mandates. Our debt is 146% of GDP, prices are sky rocketing and the median revenu stays stable at ~46K euros or ~$35K depending on your prefered information source. Household debt is
127.2 % of disposable income. The public sector now eats more than 60% of GDP (it was 55% in 2019).
Young French do not seem to have anymore a good understanding of classical French (source Pisa).
Even more serious Macron has taught French people and companies that there are infinite supplies of social money. It will now be impossible to get back to fiscal orthodoxy.
The guys he selected to handle administration online services literaly sold france to big tech, for instance breaking noscript/basic (x)html support.
Dunno if he even did realize it.

To stay fair, even macron is not that legit.
