I’ve been a remote worker for 16 years. While it’s true that remote work does blur the line between personal time and professional time, it’s not what contributes to me working late or on weekends.

I work late because I’m in meetings - either with customers or internal for most of my day. On many of those meetings I’m the leader and SME. I have to work at night to write code, lab up architectures, test equipment, research, and more.

If I were in an office the problem would be virtually the same.
