It’s amazing and alarming how much Covid theater continues to this day.
I was recently on vacation where every restaurant i walked into required me to spray hand sanitizer. No masks, just hand sanitizer. And nobody even bothers to ask why we’re still doing this. Incredible.
Hand sanitizer entering a restaurant seems both mild and also a pretty good idea even without Covid. Flu is a problem.
I don't think it's so much that these places are invested in the theater so much as they want customers and don't know how many customers will stop coming if they stop the theater.

It's like 99% something you touch. Hand sanitizer is more important compared to a mask. I'm curious if you knew that? You might not because it was considered 'misinformation' and censored. Gotta keep wearing those masks!
Protip: Your nearby mall probably has a smelly soap store.
I've stopped using hand sanitizer and just wash my hands. Soap and water is probably just as effective. I just don't see the need to bathe my hands in chemicals.
I remember the early COVID days and there was so much we didn't know. People being people, will latch onto any task or ritual to make themselves feel protected, and hand sanitizing is the manifestation of that cargo cult mentality.
